In any conversation, nonverbal language is the first of these components to be expressed and observed, often speaking volumes before any words are exchanged. When we focus on deliberately choosing and using nonverbal behaviors, this enables us to more consistently connect and successfully communicate with greater confidence, clarity, and credibility.
During this engaging and practical session, communication strategist Deb Kaufmann will coach a few volunteers, demonstrating how small shifts in behaviors generate big differences in how we are perceived, and ultimately in how others respond to us.

Deb Kaufmann
As a communication strategist and coach, Deb Kaufmann challenges business leaders and technical professionals to be exceptional presenters, facilitators, and trainers, while showing up with authentic leadership presence. Deb teaches and coaches in individual and small group settings, using pause-action coaching and video recording with instant review. She is perceptive, practical, dynamic, and fun-loving. Deb’s coaching style stretches individuals, while building on strengths.
Deb’s education includes a Santa Clara University MBA, a certificate in Training and Human Resources Development from UCSC Extension (where she was an adjunct instructor), and advanced training as a coach. During the past seven years, Deb has been a medical advocate for her husband, a recent liver transplant recipient. Deb now serves on the Board of Directors of American Liver Foundation in the Northern California Division.
Her rich work background includes over 20 years in manufacturing management, where she inspired quality and production improvements and built teams. Later, as a senior career consultant, Deb coached Silicon Valley professionals and executives in career transitions, assisting them to present themselves more powerfully to prospective employers and clients. In 1999, Deb launched her business to help established and emerging leaders communicate with greater confidence, clarity, and credibility, empowering them to more successfully connect with and influence others to achieve business results.
