Everyone seems to be talking about “the cloud.” It’s never been easier for a consultant or small business to leverage big business resources than it is today. But what exactly is the cloud, and why should a consultant consider moving to the cloud?
In a nutshell, cloud computing involves delivering hosted services over the Internet. Imagine simply logging in remotely to a web-based service that hosts all the programs you need to share and communicate project status with your clients, without the added costs and hassles associated with juggling platforms or software versions, hardware upgrades, local database storage, or network equipment. But if you are already using some form of cloud computing, is there a better option for your business?
PATCA October dinner speaker Ed Correia is president, founder and CEO of Sagacent Technologies. He will talk in-depth about the cloud, but in terms a layperson can understand. Ed will compare and contrast a range of options for businesses of various sizes, explain why one size does not fit all, and cover the crucial decisions involved in a move to the cloud.
